Nanaimo RCMP arrested two people for drug trafficking and possession of a prohibited firearm after responding to a complaint about drug dealing on Cavan Street in the downtown area.
Officers with the detachment’s Nanaimo Special Investigation Targeted Enforcement or SITE unit seized a loaded pistol, 245 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 230 grams of suspected cocaine, 45 grams of suspected fentanyl, 430 prescription opioid tablets and $950 in Canadian currency in the Sept. 11 incident, police said.
Further investigation led to a search warrant being conducted in a motel room, where large amounts of drugs, weapons and cash were found, the RCMP said.
Seized items included 1.7 litres of suspected GHB, 640 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 280 grams of suspected cocaine, 190 grams of suspected fentanyl, three firearms (two of which were prohibited and included ammunition), several other weapons and $15,000 in Canadian currency.
“This was a significant seizure and it removed large quantities of illicit and harmful drugs, as well as dangerous weapons, from the streets of Nanaimo,” said Insp. Andrew Burton.
Sara Koshman, 35, and 30-year-old Gerid Gregory-Allen have been charged, and have been remanded in custody pending their next court appearance Wednesday.
