Two schools in Colwood were briefly placed in hold and secure mode Friday afternoon after a group of young people were seen with what appeared to be a firearm nearby.
West Shore RCMP said they were notified just after noon about a group brandishing something that looked like a firearm at a bus stop near the 400-block of Dressler Road in Colwood.
Dunsmuir Middle School and Royal Bay Secondary School initiated hold and secure protocols briefly, police said.
Officers arrested a male youth and a female youth and located the item in question, which turned out to be a replica firearm.
An investigation is ongoing.
