Two inmates at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre were injured and taken to hospital after an incident Saturday evening.
Det.-Sgt. Damien Kowalewich of Saanich police said no one else was hurt and there was no wider risk to the public.
“This happened within the VIRCC, it involved two inmates, and it did not involve correctional officers whatsoever.”
Saanich police are assisting B.C. Corrections in a criminal investigation, he said.
