A man and woman reported missing after becoming separated from others on Mount Benson on Tuesday have both been found safe.

Nanaimo RCMP said 21-year-old Katrina Demore was found about 1 p.m. Thursday by Nanaimo Search and Rescue near the intersection of South Forks Road and Nanaimo River Road.

She was very cold and was treated at the scene for exposure by ambulance paramedics before being transported to hospital for further assessment, police said

The other missing person, 32-year-old Owen Donahue, was also reportedly found.

Donahue and Demore had gone for a day trip Tuesday with two other people, who tried searching for them without success and eventually went back to Nanaimo.

“The Nanaimo RCMP would like to thank everyone involved with [Nanaimo Search and Rescue] for providing such excellent service to our community and beyond,” said Reserve Const. Gary O’Brien. “Their dedication, tenacity and professionalism were instrumental in bringing this incident to a successful resolution.”
