It has been called a “Canadian driveby” and a “random act of Canadianness.” Whatever you call it, a video clip of Victoria’s Kim Faganello, 45, pulling his motorbike over to help a woman in a wheelchair back onto the sidewalk has received thousands of views since it was uploaded on Friday.
The incident happened in May and Faganello, a carpenter who uploads YouTube videos of his frequent road trips around Vancouver Island shot from a GoPro camera mounted on his helmet, decided to upload it Friday after reviewing old footage.
Since then the response has been “overwhelming” Faganello says. By late afternoon Monday, it had attracted more than 90,000 views.
“The video wasn’t posted to say, ‘Hey everybody, look at me I’m so awesome,’” he said. “It was to encourage people to step out of their comfort zone.
“I’m not asking people to jump into burning buildings and that sort of thing, but when you see something and you get that twig that I should help, just jump on it and do it and it’s kind of a win-win situation.”
