Victoria police are looking for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in Stadacona Park on Thursday night. The attacker is still on the loose.
The woman told police she was walking through the park, in the 1500 block of Pandora Avenue, near Begbie Street, when she was approached by a man she did not know.
The man attacked the woman and sexually assaulted her.
The woman fought back and broke free from the man. She fled to safety and called police about 10 p.m. Police said she was not physically injured.
“Officers are commending the victim in this incident for her decisive actions,” Victoria police said in a statement.
Major crime detectives are investigating and looking for witnesses.
The attacker is described as white and in his mid-30s, five-foot-10 to six-feet tall and wearing dark clothing.
