A volunteer search group is planning to continue their efforts all through next week to locate a man who went missing in Youbou.

Nicholas Marion, 38, was last seen June 30 at 6:30 a.m. leaving a family friend’s home at 11439 Youbou Rd., after saying he was going for a walk.

A ground, air and water search by Cowichan Search and Rescue was called off on July 6, but volunteers and family members are continuing with their efforts.

Nicholas Marion’s father Carl Marion, who came up to Youbou from Texas on July 4 to assist with the search, said the days have been like a rollcoaster. “There’s been no real sightings,” he said Saturday.

The family is trying to verify information gathered by police, “as there has been a lot of speculation,” he said.

An array of Marion’s family members have travelled into the area to help with the search and the family is looking for short-term housing while the search continues, he said.
