Ryan Bell of Campbell River’s Good Times Sportfishing captured something on video that you don’t see every day.
Bell was waiting for a water taxi in Ahousaht, about 35 minutes northwest of Tofino, when he spotted two eagles divebombing a seagull.
In the video below the eagles have injured the bird’s wings and are attempting to take it away. They repeatedly attempt to pluck it out of the water.
As Bell describes it, “eventually they picked it up and dragged it away for mealtime.”
The video ends with the bird being dropped in the water; however, “they came back and grabbed it, and took it over to the beach and started devouring it.”
Working as a fishing guide in the coastal region of B.C., Bell has seen a lot of raw nature like this.
He’s watched a seagull get grabbed by an eagle in mid flight but chalks this up as the most interesting bird-on-bird video he’s ever captured.
