A small wildfire west of Shawnigan Lake remained about 0.24 hectares in size and was considered under control on Wednesday evening.
It is the only wildfire on Vancouver Island, and it had been considered out of control on Tuesday, when it was first discovered.
The fire is believed to be human-caused and is burning near the end of Rebecca Road at McGee Creek, in a former cut block of slash.
Upcoming weather includes a chance of rain Thursday in Victoria and Duncan, and much of the rest of eastern Vancouver Island.
