Starting Monday, anyone wanting to take a driving knowledge test will be able to book an appointment through the Insurance Corp. of B.C.
All appointments will be 45 minutes in length, ICBC said in a statement, and the number of appointment slots will vary by location. Stand-by appointments will not be available.
Translation services for knowledge tests will also be reinstated Monday.
The insurance corporation began offering knowledge test appointments for some drivers — such as those whose learner’s licences were about to expire — in early May.
There is no timeline for when road tests, which have not been offered since mid-March, might resume.
ICBC is putting “extensive effort” into a plan to safely resume road testing, according to a statement, including engaging with staff and WorkSafe B.C. on the use of personal protective equipment, something the insurance corporation said it is “actively working to source.”
To book an appoint, call ICBC’s driver licence contact centre at 1-800-950-1498.
