Premier John Horgan is feeling the heat for going on vacation in another province, while wildfires are raging in B.C.
B.C. Liberal MLA for Kamloops-South Thompson, Todd Stone tweeted his outrage.
“Leaders don’t take vacations during an escalating crisis. Yet here we are in the middle of a horrific wildfire season in BC’s Interior and @jjhorgan is on vacation, not back until Thursday. How nice for him. What an absolutely disgraceful lack of leadership & compassion.”

MLA Jackie Tegart, whose Fraser-Nicola riding is under alerts and evacuation orders, as is Stone’s, called on the premier to act.
“Urgent request from Logan Lake Mayor and Thompson Nicola Regional District Chair for military support in the fight to save Logan Lake. Where is @jjhorgan and his government?” asked Tegart. Protocol dictates the premier would be the person to ask the federal government for such assistance.

A statement from the premier’s office confirmed he is on vacation until Thursday, but is still working. It said, “While spending time with his family away from the office, Premier Horgan has been briefed daily — sometimes several times a day — on the important issues and crises facing British Columbians.”
Horgan’s office would not confirm where he is vacationing.
