B.C. is suspending camping in provincial parks, at least until the end of April. It’s also ending park services and closing facilities, citing the need to maintain social distancing.
The Discover Camping reservation system won’t take bookings until the closure has been lifted. Reservations that have already been made will be refunded automatically within seven to 10 days.
“The temporary measures include the suspension of services at marine parks, visitor centres, nature houses, washrooms and day-use facilities,” said a statement from the Environment Ministry, adding park visitors can continue to use trails and areas where accessible.
Some parks could be closed altogether. Details are to posted at env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks.
