Victoria city council has put off a decision on whether to halt all-day camping in Beacon Hill Park and other locations.
Coun. Geoff Young had called for the city to resume enforcement of its overnight camping bylaws as of June 25 and require campers to pack up their belonging each morning at 7 a.m.
But council referred a decision until next Thursday, so that it can receive public-health advice.
The city has stopped enforcing overnight-camping rules so that people have places to live and self-isolate during the pandemic.
Young noted there are mounting complaints about damage to natural areas and people feeling unsafe walking through Beacon Hill Park.
