Strollers along Menzies Street in James Bay will no longer pass the outdoor pool at the Embassy Inn, after crews on Thursday demolished it and the older of the hotel’s two buildings. General manager John Clisby said the building that was razed was the original Embassy Motor Court building, which had 33 rooms. The hotel intends to build a garden on the building’s footprint in the short term, but there may be longer-term development plans for the site. “The building was old and long overdue for coming down, so we’re taking the time during what has been a slow period to take it down,” Clisby said.
