The Four Mile Brew pub building is closed until further notice after a Tuesday afternoon fire.
View Royal Fire Chief Paul Hurst said it was difficult to locate the fire in the building, which has undergone several renovations. The blaze was burning in the building’s walls and floors.
Firefighters were called just before 2 p.m. It took close to an hour to locate and control the fire. Firefighters had to cut through the walls and floors to expose the blaze.
The Langford and Esquimalt fire departments were brought in to assist, with a total of 42 firefighters involved.
No cause has been released, but it appears the fire had been burning for some time before staff noticed the smell of smoke. The origin of the fire has been traced to a particular room.
