An Island driver who thought the pandemic meant no breathalyzer tests was wrong — and he has the court date to prove it.
Port McNeill RCMP received a call about the driver and caught up with him as he was going through a school zone.
The driver had the idea that he wouldn’t get a breath test for impaired driving because of COVID-19, but he was wrong.
He provided a breath sample that was more 3.5 times the legal limit.
As a result, his vehicle was impounded, his licence was revoked and he has a court date in March.
Police urged people to call 911 when they think they see an impaired driver.
