Contract talks between the B.C. Teachers’ Federation and the B.C. Public School Employers’ Association will not be resolved before the 2019-20 school year begins on Tuesday.
After eight days of mediation, mediator Dave Schaub said Friday that there were too many outstanding proposals in place and both sides should have the right to negotiate them
“The mediator therefore recommended that the mediation process should pause until Sept. 23, at which time the parties will meet with him again to determine if a path forward can be identified,” the employers’ association said on its website.
The teachers’ contract expired at the end of June.
The BCTF has said there is no prospect of job action at this point.
