A suspect is in custody after a man was fatally shot in Port Alberni on Sunday evening.
Police were called to a home in the 3100-block of 18th Avenue just after 6 p.m., said RCMP spokesman Sgt. Chris Manseau.
Officers took a suspect into custody without incident.
The victim and suspect were known to each other, and Mounties do not believe there is a threat to the public or any connection to gangs and organized crime, Manseau said.
No one else was believed to be in the home at the time of the shooting, he said.
Police are drafting warrants to search the residence where the shooting took place.
The suspect remains in custody.
