Saanich police say a physical altercation between two pedestrians led to the death of a 34-year-old man in a motor-vehicle incident this week.
The man was struck by a truck Tuesday afternoon at Douglas Street and Saanich Road.
No further details on the altercation have been released.
Police were called about 3:50 p.m. and said the man was dead when they arrived. Another male was arrested at the scene.
The driver of the truck is co-operating and is not part of the investigation.
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit is investigating and is appealing for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to come forward. They are also looking for dashcam footage from the area from 3:30 to 4 p.m.
