The Ministry of Transportation is reminding the public about a 24-hour closure of Highway 4 at Kennedy Hill from 11 a.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday, when it will reopen to single-lane, alternating traffic.
The closure, to allow for permanent slope repair near the site of a recent rock slide, was announced early this month.
During the closure of the highway, which links the Tofino/Ucluelet area to the rest of the Island, a temporary bridge installed in January will be removed.
The bridge was put in after blasting led to a rockfall that damaged the road. The blasting was being done as part of the $38.1-million Kennedy Hill Safety Improvement Project that is being done to widen and straighten a 1.5-kilometre stretch of highway.
The regular construction-related closure schedule for the highway will resume Sunday night.
