Victoria police arrested a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant Monday night after he allegedly assaulted a staff member and smashed a glass door at a Blanshard Street business.
Officers were called about 6 p.m. with a report of the incident in the 3000-block of Blanshard.
They were told that the suspect had stolen items from the store then assaulted the staff member when confronted. He then broke the door and fled.
The staff member suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police located and arrested the man at a temporary-housing complex in the 1900-block of Blanshard Street.
His Canada-wide warrant was for a weapon-related incident in Vancouver.
