Victoria police are investigating after a suspected bicycle “chop shop” was reported in Beacon Hill Park.
At about 9 a.m. Tuesday, patrol officers found a large number of bicycles, bike parts, and other property including power tools, industrial torches and propane tanks, said department spokesman Const. Cam MacIntyre.
Officers were following up on tips from the public.
The case remains under investigation and Victoria police did not say if anyone was arrested.
The department is suggesting that people record their bicycle serial numbers and, if it’s stolen, report the theft to police along with the serial number.
People can register their bike for free through the VicPD Bike Registry online at vicpd.ca/services/bike-registry.
