He never forgot his cream puff

About four months ago, Ollie the Pug discovered a cream puff in the grass beside our house. Imagine his delight. He went absolutely bonkers. He gobbled it in two bites. Then he snuffled around in the long grass, sniffing and tonguing for more crumbs.

About  four months ago, Ollie the Pug discovered a cream puff in the grass beside our house.

Imagine his delight. He went absolutely bonkers. He gobbled it in two bites. Then he snuffled around in the long grass, sniffing and tonguing for more crumbs.

The funny thing is, Ollie has never forgotten about that cream puff. Every day, when he gets near its former location, he sniffs around for it. He does this with tremendous insistence, straining on his leash. Pug dogs are actually very strong, like miniature bulldogs.

He remembers his cream puff and he would like to eat it. Every single day. He's hoping for a Ground-Hog-Day-the-movie experience. Only with cream puffs instead of Andie MacDowell.

What if we humans did the same thing? What if, everytime we drove by the restaurant where we had that first, succulent lobster tail, we pulled over, leapt out of the car, and sniffed around for more lobsters tails?

As annoying as it is to wait daily for Ollie to search for non-existent cream puffs, I commend his focus and tenaciousness. Why, if I had the equivalent, I would have written those six novels.

And done a lot more yard work.
