Re: “Former CBC Radio host wants to stand in Victoria for Greens,” Jan. 24.
It is disappointing that the Green party is planning to run a high-profile candidate against the NDP’s Murray Rankin in Victoria.
Rankin earned his environmental spurs many years ago working as an environmental lawyer. Since being elected as our MP, he has broadened his advocacy and has represented us so well on a number of issues.
I think it is a real kick in the teeth to the environmental movement that the Green party chooses to run against Rankin and fits right in with Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s dream of splitting the vote and winning re-election.
With this action, the Green party has motivated me and a number of other environmental activists to re-double our commitment to work for Rankin’s re-election for the New Democrats, the first environmental party in Canada.
