A unique opportunity is floating in the ocean just off Nanaimo right now.
A house in the Vancouver Island community is selling for $4.5 million and it comes with a one-of-a-kind addition: a floating pub (slides 10 to 13).
The Dinghy Dock Pub is the only (legal) pub floating on Canadian waters.
In addition to the rare chance to be the proprietor of the Dinghy Dock, the property comes "with the exclusive ferry service to Protection Island and a stunning waterfront home," according to the listing.
The deal comes with a ferry because the house is located on an island with no road access. Since not all pub patrons have a boat, the ferry offers them a trip from Nanaimo to the watering hole on the water.
Due to the location of the pub, it does mean it's weather-dependent; for example, in late September it had to shut down for a day because of high winds.
The house itself is a fairly normal-looking four-bedroom, four-bathroom home built in 1986. But it does have an amazing view looking west to Nanaimo (and the pub), along with a stretch of waterfront and a sizable dock.
There are lots of houses for sale in Vancouver that are a similar size, but none of them have waterfront, never mind a business like this one-of-a-kind pub and ferry.
