Local farm-fresh restaurant group 10 Acres makes it easy for everyone to enjoy restaurant-quality meals from the comfort of home with its Market.

With local delivery and pick up, anyone can bring 10 Acres home with a wide variety of local and seasonal fresh grocery items, ready-to-go meals, a selection of BC wines at liquor store prices, treats and pastries, fresh daily baked bread, locally made provisions, local cheeses, and custom meal kits.

“We’re trying to give our guests the same experience that they would get in the restaurant,” 10 Acres executive sous chef Katrina Archibald says.

“That means ensuring quality, flavour, and incorporating our farm products seasonally and all-year-round with our preserves.”

Archibald encourages everyone to check out the Market’s offerings online or browse in person at one of two locations, downtown Victoria or Sidney. For special occasions, it’s easy to order ahead.

“This gives people a chance to take some of the stress out of their lives,” Archibald says.

“People are busy. They’re getting home from work, or they might be having family over for the first time in a long time and aren’t used to cooking. At the Market, they’ll be able to find a delicious meal that’s easy to heat up and serve.”

It’s easy to elevate any meal by purchasing an accompanying wine selected by 10 Acres award-winning sommelier, Adriano Cartuliares. All wines are priced at, or better than, liquor store prices and have a local B.C. focus.

Not sure where to start? Archibald shares some of her favourite Market picks:

Pork chop kit

“The pork chop is a real hidden gem on the online market,” Archibald says.

“This is the same pork chop we use at the restaurant. It’s killer. So, so good and very popular.”

10 Acres meal kits are ready prepared ingredients that require some construction and cooking.

“I love the meal kits because it’s more of an opportunity for people to bond and cook at home,” Archibald says.

The porkchop meal kit comes with two bone-in Berryman Farm pork chops brined in a 10 Acres special recipe, potatoes au gratin, farm vegetables and crimini mushrooms, and a demi-glace.

Steak and ale mushroom pie

This pre-cooked, frozen meal is exclusive to the 10 Acres Market. All it requires is to be heated in the oven.

The meat pie features tender-braised beef in a rich Driftwood Brewery porter, Espagnole sauce with mushrooms, potatoes, carrots, onions and rosemary covered in a flaky puff pastry.

“The cooks are always trying to steal it when I make it,” Archibald laughs.

Farm hot sauce

Made with a sweet and hot blend of peppers from the 10 Acres Farm, the hot sauce is one of Archibald’s favourite preserves that the Market offers.

“It goes on anything,” Archibald says.

“It has a nice zip. Spicy, but not bad for people who are terrified of heat.”

Archibald recommends it for people who are fans of Frank’s Red Hot. It’s great for chicken wings, especially if you melt butter into it to give it a little richness.

Tiramisu

“We say this is two-person sized, but once you try it, you may want to eat it all by yourself,” Archibald says.

“It’s super decadent.”

What sets the 10-Acres tiramisu apart is that it’s built in a jar instead of on a large tray, which means they use fewer stabilizers, creating a rich and fluffy dessert.

Created with mascarpone, espresso, kahlua, dark rum and lady fingers, this take-home treat is “something else,” Archibald says.

Fresh ingredients

Archibald is a big fan of the Market’s homemade ingredients, which help you build your dinner from scratch. This includes fresh, hand-rolled pasta and a special Bolognese sauce that isn’t available in restaurants.
