Canada had eight medals, including three gold, after three days of Paralympic competition in London.

Valerie Grand'Maison of Fleurimont, Que., earned a silver medal in women's 50-metre freestyle Saturday. The visually impaired swimmer won three gold medals at the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing.

In judo, Tim Rees from Victoria suffered a loss in his first match against British favourite Joe Ingram. He did not move on to repêchage.

"He was stronger than I expected," Rees said. "One decent attack I did with him at the end is actually what got me countered. Too bad I didn't win, but the crowd was good. I was here to fight, and the crowd got a good one I believe."

Canada's objective is to finish top eight in the goldmedal count. With three, the Canadian team was tied for 10th with Germany, Cuba and Iran. China led all countries with 19 gold.

In other track finals, Braeden Dolfo of Langley was seventh in the men's T11-13 100 metres, which is visually impaired.

In swim finals, Katarina Roxon of Corner Brook, N.L., finished fifth, Sarah Mehain of Vernon placed seventh, and Calgary's Brianna Nelson eighth in women's 100-metre breaststroke for swimmers with a physical disability. Amber Thomas of Drayton Valley was sixth in 50-metre freestyle.
