HarbourCats explode to end losing skid

The Victoria HarbourCats emerged from their funk to end a four-game losing streak in a big way. The ­HarbourCats (16-17) defeated the Kelowna Falcons 19-5 on Sunday at Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park.

Cam Schneider from the NCAA Div. 1 Fresno State Bulldogs had four RBIs on the day for the HarbourCats. Michael Crossland from NCAA Div. 1 UC-San Diego added to the onslaught with a three-run homer in the eighth inning.

HarbourCats starter Holden Hess took the win by going six innings with six strikeouts and giving up one run.

The HarbourCats have non-league games tonight and Wednesday night at RAP against the Seattle DubSea Fish Sticks of the Pacific International League before opening up a three-game WCL set Friday night against the Edmonton Riverhawks (19-11).

Meanwhile, the WCL North Division first-half champion Wenatchee AppleSox (22-11) defeated the Nanaimo NightOwls 14-8 on Sunday at Serauxmen Stadium in the Harbour City. The NightOwls (13-16) opened a three-game set against Kelowna (13-16) on Monday night in Nanaimo.
