The Victoria HarbourCats moved to 5-0 to start the West Coast League baseball season with a 9-5 victory over the Walla Walla Sweets (0-5) on Tuesday night at Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park.
NCAA Fresno State catcher Tyler Davis had a monster night with a homer and four RBIs in his season debut for the HarbourCats.
Infielder Kevin Shea, batting .471 on the season, added to his swinging start with two hits and two runs scored. Hometown Victoria-product Sam Jordan took the win in relief after starter Sean Heppner of Point Roberts, Washington, put in a good outing and went four complete innings, striking out 10 with one walk and allowing four hits and two runs.
The three-game set concludes today at 11 a.m. with the annual school field-trip game at Royal Athletic Park.
