Rookie QB Tannehill may start for Dolphins

The rookie is growing at a rate where it's difficult to discern his abilities from those of his seasoned competition.

That said, only Joe Philbin can decide when to yank the diaper off of Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Letting go of Tannehill's hand tonight in the second pre-season game against the Carolina Panthers is another tough call in a week that began by cutting first-team wide receiver Chad Johnson.

Is Tannehill ready to start in the NFL?

"We'll see, you know we've still got some time," Philbin said.

"There are still three more games in the preseason, a game week preparation. We're going to have to make that decision. I like his demeanor, I like his poise, I like his approach to the game; I think he's a serious person."

To show Tannehill is being taken seriously as a starter, Philbin left open the possibility Tannehill could start in Charlotte.

Is there an argument for starting Tannehill at Carolina over Matt Moore?

"It would give him a chance to work with the first group in a game situation against better competition, and I think that would be good," Philbin said.
