Shamrocks remain undefeated in WLA

The Victoria Shamrocks (8-0) remained undefeated in the Western Lacrosse Association with a 10-6 victory over the Burrards on Sunday at Cam Neely Arena in Maple Ridge.

Marshal King had a goal and five assists for Victoria while Tom Vaesen had a goal and four assists and Clarke Petterson a goal and two assists. Mathieu Gautier had two goals for the Shamrocks. Cole Pickup, Casey Wilson and Trent DiCicco had a goal and assist each. Defencemen Dallas Wade and Nick Preston scored the other Shamrocks goals. Marcus Klarich led Maple Ridge (3-6) with a hat-trick.

Victoria goaltender Cam Dunkerley was named the game second star for his 32 saves.

The Shamrocks travel to Queen’s Park Arena to take on the defending WLA-champion New Westminster Salmonbellies (5-3) in a key match-up on Thursday night.

The Nanaimo Timbermen (2-5) are at the Langley Events Centre to play the Thunder (3-5) on Wednesday night.
