Shamrocks silence Thunder for 2-0 series lead

Captain Jesse King helped keep the Victoria Shamrocks in high gear Monday night and now the regular-season champions are two wins away from the Western Lacrosse Association title.

King scored twice and added three assists to pace the Shamrocks to an 11-7 win over the Langley Thunder in Game 2 of the WLA final at the Langley Events Centre

Game 3 goes Wednesday night at the LEC before the best-of-seven series returns to The Q Centre in Colwood for Game 4 on Friday night.

Marshall King, Trent DiCicco and Mathieu Gautier also added a pair of goals each for the Shamrocks, while singles went to Patrick Dodds, Cole Pickup and Casey Wilson.

Robert Church led the Thunder attack with two goals and three assists.

The WLA champion will move on to the Mann Cup national championship at the home of the Major Series Lacrosse champion. The Peterborough Lakers lead the MSL championship series 2-0 over the Six Nations Chiefs.
