Sawyer Prokopetz’s goal late in the second period gave the Salmon Arm Silverbacks a 1-0 victory over the Victoria Grizzlies at the B.C. Hockey League Showcase on Thursday in Chilliwack.

Ryan Grout recorded the 20-shot shutout for Salmon Arm but it was goaltender Tyler Hodges who was named player of the game for keeping the Grizzlies in the hunt with a 34-save performance. The Silverbacks moved to 7-2-1 in the Interior Conference while the Grizzlies fell to 5-3-1 in the Coastal Conference.

The annual BCHL Showcase, hosted in Chilliwack and Abbotsford from Sunday to Thursday, brought together NHL and NCAA scouts in a one-stop shopping event.

The Grizzlies return home to meet the Powell River Kings (1-6-2) on Saturday night at The Q Centre to start a three-game homestand. Victoria will host the Surrey Eagles on Oct. 25 and Langley Rivermen on Oct. 26.
