The Victoria HarbourCats provided their own Canada Day fireworks in extra innings Monday afternoon at Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park.

Trailing by a run to the visiting Kelowna Falcons, and with two out in the 10th, Chase Wehsener from NCAA Baylor came off the bench and hit a game-winning walk-off double to give the HarbourCats (17-7) a 5-4 West Coastl League victory.

It was Victoria’s seventh consecutive victory and moved the club to 10 games above .500 for the first time since 2016.

The HarbourCats recorded a 10-5 win over Kelowna before 4,500 fans Sunday on Fireworks Night.

The HarbourCats moved a game and a half ahead of the idle second-place Bellingham Bells (14-7) in the WCL North Divison standings.

The Bells and HarbourCats will meet in a three-game set beginning Friday at Royal Athletic Park that will likely decide the North Division first-half title and playoff berth that goes with it.
