Surrey's Svensson storms back to claim Canadian junior boys golf title

Adam Svensson of Surrey came from five shots off the lead Friday to capture the 2012 Canadian Junior Boys Golf Championship at the Osprey Ridge Golf Club in Bridgewater, N.S.

Svesson carded a competitive course record 7-under 64 to claim the title by two shots over defending champion Kevin Kwon from Pitt Meadows and Luke Moser of Waterloo, Ont.

Svensson's four-day total was 283 (1-under overall). Svesson and Kwon are both teamates on Team Canada's Development Squad.

Svensson has an impressive list of accomplishments with Canadian juvenile and junior wins, a B.C. Amateur title and a Callaway Junior World Golf Championship.

Mark Valliere from Courtenay finished fourth after a round of 68, three strokes back of Svensson.

Darren Day from Royal Colwood was tied for 15th, nine shots behind Svensson. Day shot a final round of 3-over 74.

Svensson and Valliere will compete next week in the Canadian Men's Amateur Championship, which runs from Tuesday to Friday in Cumberland and Rockland, Ont.
