Some all-time Victoria Shamrocks lacrosse greats — including Lewis Ratcliff, Fred Jenner and Chris Prat — will be lacing up once again tonight in the famous green and white.

It’s for the John Crowther Memorial Charity Game.

The contest, between the Shamrocks Alumni and Junior Shamrocks, is at 7 p.m. at The Q Centre in Colwood. Admission at the door is $10, free for children 12 and under. Proceeds will go toward lacrosse scholarships and fees for minor lacrosse players who could not otherwise afford to play.

Expected to dress for the Shamrocks Alumni are runners Ratcliff, Prat, Jenner, Mike Simpson, Alton Davis, Jason Kirby, Grant Pepper, Rob Desormeaux, Darren Reisig, Jamie Tasko, Darcy Berthiaume, Grant and John Hamilton, Lucas McNeil, Ryder Bateman, Chris McKay, Noah Talbot, Ty Heavenor and Nic Collision. The goaltenders for the Shamrocks Alumni will be Matt King, Bob Heyes, Devin Daleep and Marty O’Neill.

The Crowther Memorial Game was held for several years before being discontinued. It will now again become an annual event.

Crowther, a Shamrocks star and Mann Cup MVP, was murdered in 1984.

John Crowther’s mother, 96-year-old Betty Crowther, will conduct the ceremonial first faceoff, along with Crowther’s nephews, Lucas Crowther of the Jr. Shamrocks and Mason McNeil of the Juan de Fuca peewee team.
