Bryna Hallam

Bryna Hallam is the Times Colonist's city editor, one of the newsroom’s managers.

Before joining the Times Colonist in 2011, Bryna was an arts editor at a cycling magazine, a copy editor at the Globe and Mail and a journalism trainer in Sierra Leone. She attended the University of Victoria, where she studied linguistics and professional writing and publishing — but spent most of her time at the Martlet campus newspaper.

I was caught in the fringes of a cyclist-on-driver rage last week. The incident that sparked it seemed pretty minor. Three cyclists (including me) were riding on the right-hand edge of a lane, between a straight-through lane and a turning lane.
