Luxury jewellery retailer Maison Birks, a fixture in downtown Victoria for decades, is closing its Government Street store permanently on March 26.
Famous for its little blue jewellery boxes and conflict-free diamonds, Montreal-based Birks gave no reason for the closure. It said in a statement through a public relations company that local clients will continue to be serviced through the Maison Birks downtown Vancouver store as well as online at MaisonBirks.com.
Maison Birks, owned by Birks Group Inc., has 25 stores across Canada, including flagship locations in Calgary, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
The company announced its Vancouver store will undergo a major expansion and renovation.
