Why: The community theatre in Oak Bay high school is home Sunday to a fundraising concert benefiting the West Coast Reach Association, which celebrates diversity through the power of the performing arts. We Are One! aligns with Human Solidarity Day and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and features some very appealing live performances, including sets by Roy Forbes (formerly known as Bim), who is legally blind, and Victoria reggae-folk favourite Caleb Hart. CBC’s Gregor Craigie hosts the event, which should hit an emotional high point with a performance by the REACH! Diverse-Ability Performing Co. and Children’s Chorus.
BEAUTY OF MENDING: KINTSUGI AND BEYOND
Where: Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, 1040 Moss St., Victoria
When: Nov. 30-May 25
Tickets: $15 (free for visitors 25 and under, Indigenous peoples and support workers)
Why: A new exhibit at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria highlights stunning examples of Kintsugi, the traditional craft of repairing shattered ceramics and re-assembling them anew. Beauty of Mending: Kintsugi and Beyond features pieces selected from the AGGV collection, including some by Kyoto-born, B.C.-based Kintsugi specialist Naoko Fukumaru, whose contemporary work in a centuries-old artform has been showcased around the world. Kintsugi pieces take several months to complete, so guests will want to take their time with this exhibit. There’s good news on that front as the exhibition opens Saturday at 10 a.m. and runs through May 25, 2025. Don’t miss it.
DAVID GOGO

Why: Nanaimo legend David Gogo has been melting faces around these parts for well over than three decades, and he continues to do commendable work in the blues-rock genre. Gogo has a solid new recording (YEAH!) in stores at present, which makes tonight’s appearance at Hermann’s a must-see night of fretboard fireworks from the five-time Juno Award nominee. A concert by the Vancouver Island treasure is equal parts guitar prowess and stand-up comedy, so he gives fans several reasons to catch him when he swings through town. Gogo and his band never disappoint.
