The B.C. Coroners Service is investigating the death of a man found in the waters near Willows Beach on Saturday afternoon.
Victoria’s Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre was alerted about 1:40 p.m., and sent HMCS Max Bernays and rigid-hulled inflatables from Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary (RCMSAR) 33 and the Victoria Lifeboat Station to the scene.
“However, these assets were called off as a nearby civilian vessel was able to retrieve the individual and transport them to the nearby Oak Bay Marina,” the centre said in a statement.
