The distressing discovery of a dead dog in a duffel bag floating near Ogden Point on Friday has prompted the B.C. SPCA to seek the public’s help in determining how it came to be there.

The dog was white, short-haired and appeared to be a pit bull or boxer, of adult age but not elderly.

The SPCA is not sure if someone inappropriately disposed of an already deceased dog or whether something sinister occurred, said special constable Lynsay Bailey in a statement. “Before we proceed with any necropsy or cruelty investigation, we want to appeal to the public for any information they might have to help us shed light on this rather morbid discovery.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-855-622-7722.
