Fire crews were called about 4 p.m. after smoke was spotted coming from the doors of the business at 1320 Broad St., which wasn’t open at the time.
The department arrived on the scene with 18 firefighters, three engines, a rescue truck, a ladder truck and one command vehicle.
Firefighters had to smash in the door to gain access.
They determined the fire was coming from an office on the second floor, said batallion chief Mark Robinson.
The fire was extinguished within minutes.
The business owner was at the scene, as were employees who were showing up for their shift.
Fire inspectors are trying to determine what started the blaze, which caused about $200,000 in damage.
