Island Health is reporting more school exposures to COVID-19, including three in Nanaimo.
School exposures on Vancouver Island over the first part of December include:
• Randerson Ridge Elementary, Nanaimo — Dec. 2-4
• Wellington Secondary, Nanaimo — Dec. 3 and 4
• Forest Park Elementary, Nanaimo — Nov. 30-Dec. 4
• Carihi Secondary, Campbell River — Nov. 30-Dec. 2
The health authority said people will be contacted as needed.
“If you have not been contacted by public health, then please be assured that your child did not have a high-risk exposure and they should continue to attend school as long as they are not experiencing any symptoms,” Island Health said.
“Those identified as cases and close contacts will be instructed to self-isolate directly by our public-health teams.”
Late November exposures include Nov. 27 at Alberni District Secondary School in Port Alberni and Nov. 26 at Gulf Islands Secondary School on Salt Spring Island.
Randerson Ridge Elementary previous had a COVID-19 “cluster” in mid-November, and an entire class at Sir James Douglas was asked to self-isolate following a November exposure.
An exposure refers to a single case of COVID-19, while a cluster refers to two or more people who were at the same site during their period of infection.
