Nanaimo RCMP are asking for public assistance in locating Sheldon Hinton, who is wanted for aggravated assault.
A warrant for the 50-year-old was issued in Alberta and has been extended to B.C. because investigators think he is in the central Vancouver Island area, possibly Nanaimo.
Police said Hinton has a history of violence and has trained as a boxer.
He is described as six-foot-three, 250 pounds and bald, and should be considered dangerous.
