Pedestrian killed in Courtenay

Comox Valley RCMP said the incident was reported just after 3 a.m., and despite efforts by first responders, the 44-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are looking for anyone with information after a pedestrian was killed early Friday on Ryan Road in Courtenay.

A pedestrian was killed early Friday after being struck by a vehicle on Ryan Road in Courtenay.

Comox Valley RCMP said the incident was reported just after 3 a.m., and despite efforts by first responders, the 44-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene, police said, and evidence suggests that criminality is not a factor.

A police collision analyst and the B.C. Coroners Service both attended.
