Oak Bay Avenue is closed between Foul Bay Road and Mitchell Street as the District of Oak Bay carries out emergency sewer repairs.
Work started Monday and is expected to take four days.
The closure is needed to ensure the safety of the public and district staff, the municipality said in a notice.
Recommended detour routes are on Mitchell and Elgin roads.
A 2021 district report found a significant portion of Oak Bay water, sanitary sewer, storm and road assets were in dire need of replacement.
