Heavy rains are forecast to hit the west and east coasts of Vancouver Island starting Sunday night.
Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning, saying an intense frontal system is developing and rapidly approaching the B.C. coast.
Rain, heavy at times, will develop Sunday evening over west and east Vancouver Island and continue on Monday. Total rainfall accumulation of 120 to 150 millimetres is expected around communities of Tofino and Ucluelet.
The heavy rain will ease Monday evening.
Environment Canada is warning the heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. The agency is telling drivers that if visibility is reduced, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
There is a also special weather statement for North Vancouver Island and the Central Coast as a series of fronts will bring upward of 100 mm of rain by Tuesday morning.
The federal agency said the total rainfall amount could trigger flooding, debris flow or road washouts.
