Third person arrested in overdose death of Nanaimo woman

A man wanted on first-degree murder charges in connection with the 2023 overdose death of a 52-year-old Nanaimo woman has been arrested.

Tyler Stephen Elrix, 41, was arrested over the weekend in Chemainus by members of the RCMP Emergency Response Team.

Elrix is one of three people charged in the death of Wendy Head, who died on March 7, 2023, in a residence in the 2300-block of Autumnwood Drive in Nanaimo.

The province’s integrated anti-gang agency began a joint investigation with Nanaimo and North Cowichan-Duncan RCMP after information emerged that led investigators to consider Head’s fatal overdose a homicide.

The joint investigation led to charges against three people from Duncan.

Kehar Gary Sangha and Lily Irene Lindbergh were previously arrested, while Elrix remained at large until this weekend.
