Traffic was backed up on the Patricia Bay Highway into the mid-afternoon Wednesday after a southbound dump truck lost control and slid onto its side about 11:45 a.m., just before the Quadra Street off-ramp.
The southbound lanes were reopened by about 3:30 p.m.
Saanich police Const. Markus Anastasiades said the truck hit concrete barriers before flipping onto its side and coming to rest on the grass median.
He said it’s suspected the truck may have blown a tire.
The driver, who was the lone occupant, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics, he said.
Saanich police diverted southbound Pat Bay Highway traffic through Royal Oak.
