Police hunt suspect after Sidney bank heist

Sidney RCMP are investigating what they called “a bold midday robbery” of a TD Canada Trust bank branch Tuesday. Police said a lone man entered the bank, at 2406 Beacon Ave. ,at 2:43 p.m. He approached a teller and produced a note demanding cash.

Sidney RCMP are investigating what they called “a bold midday robbery” of a TD Canada Trust bank branch Tuesday.

Police said a lone man entered the bank, at 2406 Beacon Ave. ,at 2:43 p.m. He approached a teller and produced a note demanding cash. Money was handed over, the man left and was last seen on foot heading north on Fifth Street.

Mounties were dispatched to the bank immediately along with a tracker dog. But the suspect was not found. “This was a bold midday robbery in a busy area of our town,” said Const. Meighan de Pass.

The man is described as Caucasian, six-foot-two, medium build, wearing a dark coat with a white pattern down both sleeves. He was also wearing a dark hat with white writing, black sunglasses, dark pants and dark shoes.
